Simulacrum
Les Espaces d'Abraxas stands at the meeting point of ambition and reality. Designed by Ricardo Bofill, it reimagines social housing not as something purely functional, but as something monumental — almost theatrical. The stage -Le Palacio, the landscape -L’Arc and the seating - Le Théâtre contrasts between utopia and disillusionment. Its monumental forms reinterpret classical language in prefabricated concrete, creating a striking tension between grandeur and decay. Time has left its marks on the surfaces, light moves slowly across the walls, drawing out shadows, depth, and rhythm. To photograph Abraxas is to think carefully about scale and about the human presence. When people appear, they seem small, almost swallowed by the architecture. When they are absent, the space feels suspended — somewhere between promise, utopia and disappointment. It is architecture that wants to be seen, not only inhabited.
