Blush
Blush is a visual narrative about the contemporary Venus. Marsilio Ficino explains that Venus signifies humanitas: she is a nymph of remarkable beauty, born of the heavens and more beloved by God than any other. Her soul and mind are love; her eyes, dignity; her hands, magnificence. The whole of her being is thus moderation, grace and splendor. Blush is a contemplation of the fragility of the female body, of the instincts that govern it, and of the persistent need for scrutiny and reckoning — a body continuously subjected to painful trials bestowed by the Creator. The work situates this corporeality between reverence and vulnerability, echoing the Renaissance tension between spiritual ideal and earthly embodiment.
